Sure to bring a smile.

I have made it through the groggy swamps of the first trimester of pregnancy and I'm finally feeling less tired and getting a bit of my energy back! In the spirit of feeling a bit back to my normal self, I dusted off the sewing machine and made this cutie for a friend of mine's daughter who is having her third birthday this weekend. This is my version of the Ruby Doll. I didn't like how small the Ruby Doll was and its proportions, to me, were a bit awkward. But I loved the inset face and round rosey cheeks. My direction ended up a cross between the Ruby Doll and the Black Apple Doll. I looked at both and self drafted my own template. My only disappointment here is my lack of finesse when it comes to embroidery. I just ordered the book Embroidery for Little Miss Crafty by Helen Dardik (her blog is awesome, such a great illustrator). I am hoping it will give me some direction and practice. Its meant for beginner's and since I know virtually nothing I think it'll be a good fit and hopefully will help polish up my skills.

Spring has sprung?

I keep getting teased with these gorgeous days (yesterday was in the 60s) only to get slapped in the face with blizzarding snow the next (today the snow is blowing horizontally and has been since 2 am). It is Colorado and we do need the moisture but I'm getting a mite jealous of all the sprouting green and budding blossoms my sister-in-law keeps posting about. Perhaps it because we've been quite focused on new life in our household lately. Josh and I are expecting baby number 3! As new life grows in our family I'd love to see some life in our yard too. I'll spare you pictures of my growing belly but there will definitely be updates posted along the way. After all this blog is about creating and my children are by far the most beautiful creations I have the privilege to be a part of!

Oh yes, I'm nearly 10 weeks along and am due November 3rd. I guess I can't break the news and then leave you hanging.
