Well, I'm supposed to be completed with my advent calendar today. The last two days I completed a bell, set of three vintage ornaments, an angel (which almost did me in), an ice skate, and a cardinal. I'm five ornaments short—so close! Hopefully I'll get them finished up today and have my completed calendar to show by tomorrow. Those of you that joined in the sew-a-long, did you finish on time?? This is the first sew-a-long that I've ever done and it's kinda kicking my butt :). Trying to get this calendar done in one month with three little kids and a home to take care of is a lot of work! It's been really fun but I'm looking forward to finishing. My mind is already wandering to new projects. There's so much I want to accomplish before baby #4 arrives in January!

You will finish! Great job on all of the ornaments.... so cute. I love how you can see the neat stitching detail. I did not do the sew a long but I would like to make one so I think I will start after the Christmas holiday (so I don't go nutty) and I want to make my ornaments just like yours. And the tree. And, well, pretty much the whole darn calendar like yours. Keep up the great work!
Thanks for the encouragement :). I will push forward. It's so like me to get so close and start losing my steam and already be excited about making something else. I'm determined though :).
Katie,
Your calendar is beautiful! And there's still plenty of time to finish the last five ornaments.... at least 19 days left! I decided right away that I couldn't join the sew-along in time for this Christmas. With three kids myself and a long list of homemade gifts not finished, I decided to save my calendar to make this summer. That's usually when I've had enough of a break from the holidays to start missing them again... Great job, and I'll be checking back here to borrow your ideas when I start my own!!
it's not like you need all of the ornaments till the end of the month... so technically, you have 20 days left... i believe in you :)
Are you kidding me with these ornaments?? They're georgous! I like that they're very sophisticated, but your kids will still love them. Keep going!!
I have 6 ornaments to go.. but I finished my tree last night! I really really really wanted to finish the tree so I could hang it on the wall today and I did. Yay me!! I'll probably finish the rest of the ornaments tonight while watching a movie.
Your ornaments are so beautiful! Looking forward to seeing all of them on your tree! :o)
your advent is beautiful. where do you buy your felt?
Your advent is beautiful!! I found your blog from Homemade by Jill...Would you be so kind to tell us where you buy your felt and how you pieced them together? Jill said she layered two pieces...did you do the same? I love your advent the best out of all of them that I've seen!
Hi Katie! I found your blog through Homemade by Jill while she was blogging about her advent calender. I was super impressed with your skills making the little pieces for your own advent calender/countdown and look forward to seeing what else you create! :-)
I just had to chime in on how fantastic your ornaments are! The details and the control you have over your machine is amazing! This will be such a sweet tradition. I'm so disappointed that I didn't see this sew along earlier. I would of loved to partcipate in it!
I am amazed at your talent! You are doing such a wonderful job on the calender. I thought about sewing them with a machine but wasn't quite sure how to do it. If it makes you feel any better I am not done either. We have hung the ornament on for today but I still have a few finishing touches to do. I'm hoping to post my finished calender tomorrow on my blog.
We can do this! We can finish the calender!

Cheree- I buy my felt at a couple local shops, I love seeing the colors in person and I avoid having to pay shipping whenever possible :). I'm piecing my ornaments together basically the same way as Jill. I find a foundation color for my entire ornament shape and make two of those—one for the foundation, one for the backing. Then I cut out my detail pieces and glue them in place, add any embroidery, then glue the top piece to the back piece with the little hanger loop in between. Then I machine stitch all the layers. Hope that helps!
WOW....your calendar is so beautiful!! I loved it from the start.
I'm in agreement with another lady, I want to do one but I believe I will wait ... perhaps til next year even.
I love your ornaments! Great job!
I love your ornaments....I love all
felt ornaments...have made quite a
few over the years and am happy to
share patterns....I need a pattern
for a cardinal. I am new to this and have not set up a blog, but plan to very soon. Barb
