Josh & Kate

Kate & Josh
My husband and I are working together on a little side project. We're both artists and have been wanting to do a project together for a long time. Josh & Kate is the way we're going to accomplish that. It's just in it's beginning stages. Josh has illustrated two silk screen prints. We have chickadees that make a nest every year on our back stoop and gold finches are frequent guests at our bird feeder in our backyard. We and the kids enjoy watching them every year and that was the inspiration for these two prints. The collection of prints will expand and we're hoping to add other items as well. You'll also find a PDF pattern of a certain advent calendar and ornaments pop up in the shop come the end of this month or early October (that's the goal!). My awesome husband and collaborator is going to help me out with designing an awesome pattern for you guys. He's amazing and I'm super excited that he's going to be helping me out! You can read more about Josh & Kate here. You can also find us on Facebook. Be sure to click the "like" button if you want to hear our updates. Spread the word and if you like what you see purchase a print for you or as a gift. It will help fund future collaborations...and I don't mean kids, we're finished with four :). We have both little birds hanging on our living room wall. The prints are beautiful and fit perfectly in these IKEA frames (just in case you happen to decide you need a bird print for your wall and needed advice on how to frame it).

Enjoy what is left of your weekend and have a beautiful week!

Simple dishtowels and an apron.

Me and my much taller little sister at her reception party.
I made these as a wedding gift for my sister. She got married a few months back but had a reception for her CO family just a couple weeks ago. The dishtowels I found on Purl Bee. They are super simple and very pretty and polished when you're finished. They come together quite quickly. The apron I just made up as I went. I did glance at the half apron in the book Seams to Me by Anna Maria Horner. I gave these to my sister yesterday and she was quite excited about everything, which of course made me quite happy. I find it so satisfying making gifts for my friends and family.

Super cape for a super girl.

The little girl I watch during the week had her third birthday last weekend! I made her a super cape for the occasion complete with an "A" for Anjali and a princess crown, because it was necessary, and of course bright pink and floral fabric...just to make sure it was girly enough :). This girl loves pink, purple, princesses and dress-up. I thought this simple gift fit the bill pretty well. I used this tutorial by The Long Thread. This is a great cape tutorial, the best in my opinion. I like the fold over contrast color and the Velcro closure. I've made this cape a few times and it's such a simple project and is always so enjoyed. I whipped this up the afternoon of the party in an hour and a half. With out a hitch, as the saying goes (which rarely ever happens to me, so I was thrilled)! The floral fabric was cut from a vintage sheet I found at the thrift store not too long ago and the pink was just cheap broad cloth from Hobby Lobby. Thanks to my oldest for modeling for me :).
