What we've been up to...

The changes with my husband's business are taking shape. He and his partner are closing down their physical work space downtown. That means they'll be working from home and from coffee shops and such. That also means a lot of moving furniture and reorganizing. I've been busy in our basement tackling the task of sorting through, paring down, re-arranging furniture, and reorganizing to make our space more functional, less cluttered, and even more multipurpose. I've been working away for about two weeks and can finally say I'm done! Just in time too. Josh brings his office chair home today and his first day working from home sweet home is tomorrow. It's a temporary set up (he actually has a new job possibility in the works and will freelance on the side, working on only projects he wants to do). For now he'll be sharing my workspace and hasn't complained once about all my stuff that will be surrounding him. Such a great man :). Anyway I've got some photos to show off all my hard work. It may as well be noted right now that these are not meant to show off how swank or awesome our basement is. It's unfinished, but functional. It is what it is and it works. I'm just hoping the nice and neat lasts for more than five minutes, haha.

Our shared work station. Thank goodness for laptops!

My little sewing spot, don't think I've ever shared my "new" space on here.

His shelves: filled with paper samples and design books, displaying family photos and beer cases.

Her shelves: filled with fabric and more fabric, displaying a bunch of kid's toys.

So nice and neat!

Some details from my sewing spot. These were a thrift store find.

More vintage fun.

Hat boxes from the 60s. (they're actually wig boxes, but that sounds gross. I cleaned them. Well.)

The kid's play area.

My littlest helper. She loves this poor doll made for Olivia a couple years back. My first attempt at a doll. Didn't hold up too well. I know just what I'll be making her for Christmas and hope to do a better job :).

Other than that my oldest boy just turned five (the youngest one turns three in two weeks)! I did manage to make him a present the night before his birthday, because that just makes the process so much more fun. I'll post pics of that after I take them :). I'm praying for guidance and hoping this job goes through for Josh. It will mean normal hours which in turn means that we'll get our family back. Which would be most awesome! It would also mean some relief financially, and I don't have to tell you the awesomeness of that. Exciting possibilities ahead. It's the waiting that is hard. I'm tired ya'll (cut me a break, I grew up in SW FL).

Have a great one!

News.

I've got some news to share. There's been a big wrench thrown in our plans. The situation at my husband's work has taken a drastic change the last couple weeks and his work load has buried him deep. Lots of shifts and decision making going on, as well as just trying to keep his head above water in the demands of deadlines and projects. As a small business owner when seasons like this happen, even abruptly, you really don't have much of a choice than to plow forward and figure it out. Feeling as if you're treading water is not a fun place to be and it's exhausting, and stressful. All of this has taken place at a perfectly bad time as far as our advent calendar pattern goes. I've decided that rather than continuing to add to my husband's work load I'm going to remove this task from his plate. I can't really help him in any other way, other than being supportive and staying positive. I can remove this project, for now, and at least relieve additional pressure outside of his official work load. We're both disappointed and we're both really sorry. This project is still very important to us (and it's looking awesome!). Which is why we don't want to release something unfinished, rushed, and just not as great as it could/should be. At this point I can't finish this pattern on my own to the level of excellence at which it has started. And honestly I don't want to try. I'd rather wait, do it right, and have it be something that I'm proud of.

That being said, this project is being put on the shelf for the time being. Not forever, and hopefully not for a very long time. But the pattern will not be released on October 15th and certainly won't be ready in time for the holiday season this year which is already upon us.

Please accept my apology. I know that many of you were (hopefully still are) excited for this pattern with plans to make calendars for your families or as gifts for this year. Some of you have already purchased your supplies. Lesson learned here is don't announce a product and official date until the project is done and you know for sure you can deliver what you've promised. You live and you learn. Thank you for your patience and understanding. I'll certainly let you know when this project is up and running again. Until then prayers for my family would be very much appreciated. We're all a bit worn out around here and waiting for a clear path to take shape in front of us so we can see where we're headed. I'm not looking for sympathy, so many things still to be thankful for. I'm just trying to be honest and clearly explain the reason behind putting this project on hold. Thank you!

*Advent Calendar Pattern put on hold. The pattern will NOT be released on Oct. 15th.
